Youth Engagement Program

Dear young people, aspire to great things, to holiness, wherever you are. Do not settle for less. Then you will see the light of the Gospel grow every day, within you and around you.

Pope Leo XIV

What is it?

“Faith isn’t just learned, it’s lived.”

The Catholic Mission Youth Engagement Program empowers young people to make a real difference in the world.

Shaped by the voices of young people, the program focuses on what matters most: interactive experiences, genuine peer connections, and meaningful action. Whether through workshops, interfaith encounters, immersions, advocacy, or volunteering opportunities, you’ll find experiences that are socially relevant, emotionally engaging, and spiritually grounded.

This program is about acting, leading, and living your values where faith meets leadership, justice, and community. We help young people move from inspiration to action by giving you the tools, knowledge, and confidence to step up as a change-maker and lead with courage today.

“Your mission starts here: turn inspiration into action.”

Through the Youth Engagement Program, participants are invited to reflect on their values, beliefs, and behaviours, and consider how they can live the Joy of the Gospel in everyday life. Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching (CST), the program highlights how principles such as human dignity, solidarity, and care for creation come alive through action.

Leadership, service, and advocacy are not just ideas – they are lived experiences that shape both your community and the world.

Who is it for?

“Whatever your stage, there’s a place for you.”

This program is for:

School leavers asking “what’s next?” and ready to get involved.

Tertiary students wanting to connect faith with action.

Young adults passionate about justice and leadership.

Anyone ready to step up and become an agent of change.

Whether you’re just exploring, engaging, or already leading, there’s a place for you to grow, reflect, and act – especially through the Youth in Action program, which brings together young leaders to continue their mission journey and make a lasting difference in their communities.

Why it matters

“What can I do next?”

Young people ask this again and again—and the Youth Engagement Program is the answer.

It gives you the tools, community, and courage to be leaders today, not just tomorrow. Through reflection, dialogue, and hands-on action, you’re invited to consider:

• How your actions shape your community.

• How your choices reflect your values and faith.

• How you can embody compassion, justice, and leadership in everyday life.

How to get involved

“Learn. Connect. Serve. Advocate.”

There are four ways to step in:

Skills Development (Head) – Build leadership, communication, and mission skills in interactive and practical ways, with CST as the foundation for understanding how faith connects with justice.

Continued Engagement (Heart) – Connect with peers, share experiences, and grow in community through spaces where young people feel seen and heard.

Volunteering (Hands) – Join MAPS, Socktober, Immersions, or other mission projects, including English language tutoring for refugees and migrants, and truth-telling initiatives – living CST in concrete ways.

Advocacy (Hands) – Learn to act for global justice, locally and globally, through the lens of CST, using your voice and values to drive meaningful change.

Catholic Mission offers pathways to keep growing, keep connecting, and keep making a difference, while reflecting on your own journey of living the Joy of the Gospel.

“Let me be the change I want to see, the change that begins in me.”
