Pope Prayer Intention
Pope's Prayer Intention for May
Let us pray that everyone, from large producers to small consumers, be committed to avoid wasting food, and to ensure that everyone has access to quality food.
Mission begins with prayer. Through prayer, we open our hearts to God’s call to serve others and build a world of compassion and hope. Join Catholic Mission and the universal Church in prayer and reflection. Through the Pope’s monthly intentions, weekly Gospel reflections, or meditating on the Rosary for the needs of our world, we invite you to join us in prayer.
Each week, we share reflections on the Sunday Gospel readings to help deepen your prayer and connect faith with action. These reflections are especially suited to priests, religious, and adults seeking thoughtful, mission-focused spiritual reading.
Read the commentaries hereThe Mission Rosary was created in 1951 by Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, then National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the United States. He envisioned a way to “embrace the world in prayer,” particularly remembering those living in poverty. Inspired by the missionary vision of Pauline Jaricot, founder of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, the World Mission Rosary features five colour-coded decades, each representing a different continent where the Church continues her mission. Praying the Mission Rosary reminds us that we belong to a truly global Church and calls us to stand in solidarity with communities around the world through prayer and mission.
