Give the gift of education for deaf children

Your compassion can open up a world of learning for children in Ethiopia

Even though I can’t hear, I can still do important things.

Maleda* (Student at Co-Action Deaf School)

For children like Maleda in Ethiopia, your gift can change everything

Born deaf, Maleda faces daily rejection and isolation. But there is hope—the Co-Action Deaf School offers her a place to learn, belong and thrive.

With your generous support, we can restore and strengthen this vital school and give children the future they deserve.

Built in 1985, the Co-Action Deaf School was a lifeline for deaf children in Ethiopia.

Now, after 40 years, the school itself is in crisis—with broken furniture, unsafe classrooms, deteriorating learning spaces and a lack of essential teaching resources.

Your support can provide the essentials such as:

• communication aids

• technology to assist in learning, and

• safe and inclusive spaces to play and develop.

Pope Leo XIV recently reflected that “for the Christian faith, the education of the poor is not a favour but a duty. Children have a right to knowledge as a fundamental requirement for the recognition of human dignity.” (Dilexi Te, 72)

These words capture the very heart of our mission. Through your compassionate support, you affirm that right — ensuring children like Maleda have the chance to learn, belong, and flourish with dignity.

I believe if we can help this school, we can help the larger community. Because if these kids are educated, they can help this country tomorrow and be better leaders
