Known as an “oasis of peace” in a land characterized by conflict, Bethlehem University was created following the 1964 visit of Pope Paul VI to the Holy Land. The University is a joint venture between the Holy See (Vatican) and the De La Salle Christian Brothers. It is the only Catholic/Christian university in the Holy Land. The mission of the University is to provide quality higher education to the local community.
Bethlehem University is desperately seeking assistance, so it can provide all nursing students - general nursing, midwifery, oncology and palliative care - with suitable supervision in the local hospitals and clinics. To graduate each student needs to complete 1155 hours of supervised care during their 4 years. The total cost of this supervision is $150 000 per year.
