With Joy and Hope, Catholic Mission Welcomes Pope Leo XIV

We are united in joy and prayer with all the Pontifical Mission Societies around the world as we welcome Pope Leo XIV.

Together, we continue to walk in mission, inspired by his call to hope, dialogue, and service:
"We have to look together how to be a missionary Church, building bridges, dialogue, always open to receiving with open arms for everyone, like this square, open to all, to all who need our charity, our presence, dialogue, love."

A Message from Fr. Brian Lucas, National Director, and the Staff of Catholic Mission Australia:

It is with immense joy and anticipation that Catholic Mission welcomes the election of Cardinal Robert Prevost as the 267th successor of Saint Peter as bishop of Rome and pastor of the universal Church. At a time of great upheaval in the world, the steady moral guidance that is connected to the papal office provides an opportunity to reflect on what is required to bring greater peace to our world. "Pope Leo XIV brings to this office an extraordinary wealth of experience, and we look forward to his pontificate building on the direction set by his predecessor, the much-loved Pope Francis. Catholic Mission is the pope's own missionary agency, and we offer him our full support in the work of supporting the mission churches," said Fr Brian Lucas, National Director.
