A mother’s life shouldn’t be left to chance

In some of the most remote places in the world, accessing healthcare is a difficult and dangerous journey. From rough roads to vast distances, poor weather to safety concerns, people in remote communities face immense challenges to receiving the care they need. The remoteness also creates a challenging environment for clinics to have adequate resources and facilities.

For expectant mothers, these challenges can mean the difference between life and death.

Eveline walked four hours while in labour in order to deliver her child safely. No mother should have to walk vast distances, especially while in labour.

“When it was time to deliver, I walked on foot from here to the hospital and the hospital is very far. I walked whilst I was in pain.”

Today, the clinic is in need of upgrades to its facilities and medical equipment, including new tools and vehicles for transport. Without a dedicated mother’s shelter, pregnant women and new mothers have no choice but to share facilities with other people with critical illnesses. Every mother deserves to have the dignity of a safe and comfortable childbirth.
