Zambian Children Celebrate Ten Years.
22 Sep 2009

Celebrating at mass
As Catholics all over the world prepare to celebrate World Mission Month in October, Catholic Mission, Australia would also like to remind all Catholics in Australia to remember the children of the world on Children’s Mission Day, October 21.

World Mission Month is celebrated in every Catholic diocese around the world, with World Mission Day celebrated on October 18 this year. A day dedicated to the Children of the world is Children’s Mission Day, which is held the following Wednesday, on October 21.

Just recently the Archdiocese of Lusaka, Zambia celebrated its 10th anniversary of the Catholic Mission’s work with Children in the Archdiocese, which herself is celebrating her golden Jubilee, 50 years of carrying the treasure of faith.

National Director of Catholic Mission in Zambia, Father Bernard Makadani Zulu said “We celebrated with joy, gratitude and hope in the gift we received, the gift we continue to share: The gift of our Faith.”

“Thousands of children attended the event. The children filled the 6000 sitting capacity Cathedral of the Child Jesus as you can see from the pictures. The anniversary was a moment for the children to renew their commitment. They are indeed the treasure of the Church. They love the church, accompany her, showing her the path of joyful generosity, giving her confidence and opening new paths for evangelisation towards those who have not received the Good News.”

Fr Bernard writes to Catholic Mission Australia, reminding us of the good work that is being done through donations like yours. “I am very happy to be part of the Holy Childhood Association. Happy for being a missionary with them! Happy because the future is bright, it is in their hands! Another 50 years, we will certainly have a new, more missionary Church rooted in the lives of these children. The faith of the children is enriching the family of God with so much cheerfulness and creativity. Indeed in the Church is embracing them with gratitude.”

“May God bless all the missionary children, their animators and all those who support them and pray for them.”

Thousands of people attended
National Director of Catholic Mission Australia, Martin Teulan says “The work for Children is paramount for communities all over the world. This Mission Month remember the children on Children’s Mission Day, October 21, and know that lives of millions of children are improved thanks to the generosity of Australian Catholics.”
