Prayers for the People of Haiti
Eternal One, our Rock and our Refuge,
You are the source of our trust and our salvation.
To You we turn with thoughts and prayers for the people of Haiti,
for those whose lives were lost.
We think of those who have died,
receive them lovingly into your care.
We think of those who lost all that was precious and dear to them,
family, friends, homes and possessions,
of those whose lives are now burdened
with loss, suffering, disease and poverty
and who cry out to You: 'Save me, O God'
May they feel You close to them in these times.
Guide us in all that we undertake on their behalf,
As You support the needy when they call,
may we respond with generosity and compassion;
as You have pity on the weak and the poor,
so may we help save the lives of those in danger,
as You are their ultimate hope
so may we alleviate their suffering
and help all those who have survived to rebuild their lives.
We ask this of You
our God of steadfast love and the Rock of our salvation.

Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over all those dealing with the aftershocks of this tragedy. We pray for those who have lost loved ones, be they family or friends, and for those who still don't know whether those who are missing, are alive or dead. We pray for those you have called home and ask that they be at peace. Please uphold those who are working, on behalf of relief agencies, military forces and government departments, so that they make wise decisions and be strong in their response to the many needs they encounter.
May those of us who have the good fortune to live in lands that are relatively safe and non-threatening remain gracious, humble and grateful and may we be willing to share what we have with the people of Haiti.

We pray for our brothers and sisters of Haiti and for their loved ones who have died:
May the living experience the closeness of the Lord in these trying times especially through our generosity in helping them, and may the Lord lovingly receive all who perished in the tragedy.
